What People Are Saying

"When I first considered acupuncture, the thought of having needles stuck in my body was nerve wrecking. Karina was amazing with her explanations and helped me to relax before starting her treatment. She was a tremendous help! ... After my first treatment with Karina, I was sold. I suffered from really bad sciatica pain for years and saw a chiropractor for many years. Adding acupuncture to my regimen was a huge success."

Acupuncture is one of the oldest forms of medicine in the world, originating in China more than 3,000 years ago. Acupuncture is the insertion of single use, stainless steel, sterilized, disposable, filiform needles into specific points on the body to stimulate healing reactions in your body. According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, or TCM, your health is determined by the quality of the Qi (energy) and blood flow through the natural pathways of your body. The needles stimulate the flow of Qi and blood, which affects the circulatory, neurological, endocrine and biomagnetic systems in the body. Acupuncture is currently one of the most thoroughly researched, practiced, and respected forms of complementary medicine available.

The many benefits of acupuncture include:

  • Pain Relief - Acute and Chronic, Repetitive use or Traumatic Injury
  • Stress Relief - Anxiety, Depression, PTSD, Addiction
  • Increased Energy - Chronic Fatigue, Energy Drops
  • Stronger Digestion - IBS, Constipation, Diarrhea
  • Improved Sleep - Difficulty Falling or Staying Asleep
  • Relief from Allergies, Help with Infertility, and much more!

Chinese Medicinal Herbs

Traditional Chinese herbal therapy is a healing tradition using an extensive materia medica of naturally occurring substances — including plants — in specific combinations tailored to the individual patient to enhance health and vitality. The foundation of this approach is to support the body's natural self-healing mechanisms and abilities. At Life Gate Acupuncture, we only prescribe high-quality, professional-grade herbal medicines that are available only through qualified licensed professionals.

"Karina is a rock star! She has helped me regain back my stamina after weekly chemo treatments have drained me and eased my chronic back pain that my chiropractor couldn't. I am SO thankful that I found her and discovered the wonders of acupuncture!!"

TuiNa Bodywork Therapy

Tui Na, sometimes called Chinese Medical Massage, is an ancient form of bodywork that is based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Techniques include a variety of pressures and strokes along the meridians (energy pathways) of your body to both relax your muscles and also stimulate the flow of energy throughout your body. By treating both the physical (musculature) and energetic (Qi) levels of your body at the same time, and often combining TuiNa with acupuncture, we can achieve results beyond what you’d might receive from a conventional massage therapy session.

Cupping is a part of TCM that has been used for nearly 3000 years. It can relieve aches and pains, improve circulation, help with digestive and respiratory problems. At Life Gate Acupuncture, we use plastic or glass suction cups on specific points on the body, and use the suction to draw skin up into the cups. It doesn't hurt - although it can feel intense - it simply draws fresh blood to that area of your body, which facilitates improved Qi and blood circulation and a healing response.

Moxibustion is a technique in Traditional Chinese Medicine that involves the burning of mugwort, a small, spongy herb, to facilitate healing and relieve pain. Most often used in conjunction with acupuncture, moxibustion strengthens the blood, stimulates the flow of Qi (energy), and enhances your overall vitality and health. Moxibustion has been used for healing purposes throughout Asia for thousands of years.

Among other benefits, a landmark study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association in 1998 found that 75.4% of women experiencing a breech presentations before childbirth had fetuses that rotated to the normal position after receiving moxibustion at an acupuncture point on the bladder meridian.
